‘Mother hen’ of Guernsey Motorsport wins the 2022 Sports Volunteer of the Year award
Sure’s Justin Bellinger presented Guernsey Motorsports’ Heather Robilliard with the Sports Volunteer of the Year award at this year’s Pride of Guernsey awards.
We were pleased to sponsor the Pride of Guernsey Sports Volunteer of the Year award for a second year, and Justin attended the awards ceremony on October 15 at St Pierre Park Hotel. The Pride of Guernsey Awards recognises the unsung heroes of our community.
Sport is such an important part of so many islanders’ lives and the Sports Volunteer of the Year award recognises the selfless dedication of local volunteers and gives them the credit they deserve.
Heather was dubbed the ‘mother hen’ of Guernsey Motorsport. Her nominator Ann Pinchemain said, “She dedicates so many of her weekends to helping people to sign on, timekeeping, and organising a lot of the paperwork, among other things.
“She is also on the committee at the Kart Club and spends so much of her time taking phone calls and helping people out.
“Heather is heavily involved with karting and helps with the hill climb. This means that she attends all the meetings, which during the summertime are often held at the weekend.
“She is also involved with the car club as well as motocross.”
Justin said: “We’re so lucky to have so many different sports to choose from in Guernsey as well as great facilities for all islanders to enjoy. We really appreciate the hard work of volunteers who put in countless hours to support sport in our island – and Heather is a clear embodiment of this dedication. We are committed to supporting local sports and are looking forward to being the technology partner of the 2023 Island Games. We would like to congratulate Heather once again; we were proud to present this well-deserved award to her.”

This technology investment won’t just be for the few weeks of the Island Games - it’ll stay in place for many years and will bring long-term benefits to Guernsey’s sports venues to futureproof them for years to come.
